Anyone who grew up in this area knows the Jackson County Fair is a summer staple that we all look forward to. The fairground has since undergone some major renovations and layout changes. While it does look nice, it takes away from a bit of that nostalgic feeling. We'll get used to it eventually, and younger generations won't know the difference so that's really a non-issue. The exhibit hall, animal buildings and grandstand are currently still the same, though. It's a good mix of new and old. My parents have been entering vegetables, sewing and baking to be judged for at least 60+ years. If you ever get a chance to pass through the exhibit hall, you'll notice many vegetables on plates with blue ribbons on them that were grown by Leon. My mother passed away in December of 2021, but I still put a photo of her proudly posing with some of her first place pieces in the sewing exhibit. As you can tell, this event will always hold a special place in my heart. PS, Fiske Fries are a must!
Lots of beautiful improvements!! Great food including dipping dots ice cream!! Fun place for all ages! Polite people. I went to attend the MERCY ME CONCERT N to support my church band that opened for M.M. it was absolutely SOOOO wonderful!! I loved the whole experience!!
Amazing time with my girls prices are way too high but that did not take our fun away
I always love coming to Jackson's Fair however I am not in favor of how they redid the event.
Now, no matter where you are, if you're thirsty or hungry, or you have a child who is, you have to get to one particular area where all the food options are👎🏼
I actually enjoyed it better, when the venders were scattered throughout the entire fairgrounds, and you could grab bits to eat whenever you wanted, without all going to one area.
The new layout of the grounds is somewhat confusing for the seasoned Jackson County fair goer. The grandstand building seems to be an afterthought with this new layout. Still, don't forget it. Some very nice markets are here. I come for the Frries with malt vinegar and cotton candy... A clean experience and loads of fun for the elementary aged children. As well as the child in all of us.
My kids had a blast on kids' day. Even my toddler was able to enjoy rides. Highly recommended for family fun!
We went on Thursday so it was not very crowded. Food is always great had a selection for everyone. The animals were very well cared for and had very polite and nice handlers. Will go again
This place has gotten so outrageously expensive that it's no longer affordable.
Yesterday, we tried to yo to the fair. A family of four costs $45 just to get in. But the card reader wasn't working, so instead of accepting the cash ($40), we had to leave the parking lot and try to find an ATM. This wasn't an easy task since both adults are disabled. But, the lady at the gate wasn't willing to work with us AT ALL.
Once inside, the costs of food and the rides make it where it's just not a pleasant experience. $7.50 per ride, $12 for a small bag of cotton candy, and $15 for funnel cake.
Needless to say, we'll never attend the Jackson County Fair again. Which is sad because it's been a family tradition for decades.
